Chilean director Sebastián Silva, winner of the Mastercard OFF CAMERA festival a few years back, returns with a new film that tackles similar themes to Jordan Peele’s Get Out!, the big sensation of last season. Tyler (Jason Mitchell from Oscar-winner Mudbound), an African-American chef, is invited to a birthday party in the Catskills by a friend. A cottage in the middle of the forest with no pesky neighbours around makes a perfect location for what they have planned for the next few days. They spend their time largely on drunken games, dumb horseplay and competing to tell the most uncomfortable and often politically incorrect jokes. Tyler, the only black man in the group, pretends not to hear at first. But gradually he starts to feel less and less comfortable in the group, realizing that racism and intolerance, even the deeply hidden kind, can have many faces.
