Ever since her mother fell seriously ill, Leigh’s life has come to a halt. She has devoted every day to fighting for her mother’s health, neglecting her social life almost completely. Seeing Leigh’s dedication, her mother persuades her to get away from this sad reality and get some rest. Though not completely persuaded, Leigh plans a short camping trip with her boyfriend, in the middle of nowhere, out of reach from her everyday problems. It’s an opportunity to spend some time with the person that understands her best, but the situation also has the potential to open up some unhealed wounds. Meredith Johnston, who wrote the screenplay and plays the lead role, based the film on her own experience. In this poignant story about life’s castaways, unable to fit in, there’s sadness and heartbreak but also room for lightness, humour and hope.
