Roxy Toporowych's feature debut is a poignant love story with an armed conflict in the background. The revolution in Ukraine in 2014 left a deep mark on Julia. What she saw in Kiev with her own eyes pushed her to make an important life decision, namely to apply to study photography at a prestigious university in Germany. While waiting for a response, she works as a volunteer in a military hospital where soldiers arrive directly from the front. One day she meets a man named English, a young soldier fresh from the warzone sent home because of his injuries. The chemistry between the two characters is obvious from the start. A trip to attend a wedding with Julia's family will be a test for their developing feelings, particularly since both Julia and English have their secrets. Toporowych treats her characters with great empathy. She portrays innocent feelings born under very difficult circumstances, but also takes up the problem of soldiers trying to return to a normal life after experiencing the nightmare of war.
